Booking.com is joining Moldova’s effort to turn international interest into more bookings, with the platform taking part in the Moldova Tourism Forum for the first time. The National Tourism Office announced the cooperation ahead of the forum, which was held in Chișinău on 24 September under the banner “Tourism Unites Us: Moldova Welcomes Europe”.
The initiative is focused on visibility and digital distribution rather than a new route or hotel opening. Moldova wants to use Booking.com’s global network to present its wine routes, gastronomy and cultural heritage to prospective visitors, then guide them from destination discovery to accommodation selection and final reservations.
The forum also gave local tourism businesses direct access to the platform’s expertise. Booking.com representatives joined panel sessions and led a workshop on property onboarding, online visibility, digital distribution and booking behaviour. The National Tourism Office said the cooperation should provide local entrepreneurs with practical tools and data to understand how international travellers search for Moldova and how online interest can be converted into completed bookings.
The initiative could be particularly relevant for smaller accommodation providers. Guesthouses, rural stays and independent hotels often offer distinctive experiences yet have limited reach in overseas markets. Greater visibility on a global booking platform may help them attract visitors planning wine, countryside and cultural itineraries.
Moldova’s tourism authorities are presenting the initiative as part of a broader effort to make the destination more visible and accessible. The next challenge will be focused turning digital attention into bookings and encouraging visitors to travel beyond Chișinău.
