Uzbekistan welcomed 10.3 million foreign tourists between January and September 2026, 20.4% more than during the same period last year, according to figures from the country’s Tourism Committee published on 7 October. Around 1.2 million visitors arrived in September alone.

China was among the fastest-growing source markets, with visitor numbers more than doubling year on year. Arrivals from Malaysia increased 1.9 times, while those from Egypt and Romania grew 1.8 times. Indonesia recorded a 1.7-fold increase, followed by Japan at 1.5 times, the United States at 1.4 times and Russia at 1.3 times.

European markets also contributed to the rise. Visitors from Germany and the UK increased by 25%, while France recorded growth of 21% and Türkiye 15%.

The increase in arrivals was also accompanied by higher earnings from tourism services. Uzbekistan’s tourism service exports reached $5.3 billion during the first nine months of the year, up 51.2% compared with the same period in 2025.

The latest figures show a broader spread of demand across Asian, European and long-haul markets. They also underline the growing importance of tourism to Uzbekistan’s services economy as the country continues to promote its historic cities, cultural heritage and Silk Road routes.
