Thailand’s Meteorological Department has issued a new weather warning covering 5–9 November, with thunderstorms, strong winds, hail and heavy rain expected in several parts of the country.

Warning No. 6, issued on 4 November, forecasts unstable weather across upper Thailand from 5 to 7 November. The Northeast is expected to be affected first, followed by the North, Central region, Bangkok and its surrounding provinces, and the East. The warning includes thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail and isolated heavy rain.

The department’s latest forecast says Bangkok may experience scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds from 5 to 7 November, with isolated heavy rain and hail possible on 6 November.

Southern Thailand is expected to see increased rainfall from 7 to 9 November, including heavy rain in many areas and isolated very heavy rain. Accumulated rainfall could trigger flash floods, overflowing waterways and landslides, particularly in foothill areas, near channels and in low-lying locations.

The warning is relevant to both Andaman and Gulf destinations. The latest forecast lists thunderstorms and heavy rain risks for areas including Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Songkhla. Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand could exceed two metres during thunderstorms, and boat operators have been advised to avoid storm areas.

The alert may affect island transfers, diving, boat excursions, hiking and road journeys through low-lying or mountainous areas. It remains a forward warning rather than a report of a nationwide travel shutdown. Hotels, tour operators and travellers should monitor local forecasts and confirm marine excursions before departure.
